A powerful decision making process is the force field analysis (FFA) system. It helps you identify the forces propelling you towards a decision and the forces resisting change. It is a decision making process opposite of thin slicing (which we talked about earlier) because factors both for and against are consciously deliberated in the force field.
Here’s the force field in action: You have a plan or a decision to make. List the forces in favour of the decision on one side, and the forces against making the change on the opposing side. Now score each reason, for and against, with a number 1 (weak) to 4 (strong). The side with the highest score is your decision.
Note that it’s entirely possible to have more reasons on one side, but with a total score less than the other side.
