In my book Zero to Superhero, I bust out a mega list of 29 hacks to a super-fast brain. Believe me you, they have saved my heinie during more than one final exam. It’s amazing what strategically controlled bursts of “super”-intellect can do for your confidence and performance.

So in a similar vein I submit 3 completely natural mind doping options from my secret underground lab:

  • Straight up: when you increase the neurochemical dopamine in the brain, you increase mental focus and clarity. How? Take the recommended daily dosage of B-Complex vitamin. B vitamins are the raw building materials needed in the creation of dopamine, epinephrine and serotonin, chemicals critical to brain functionality and preservation.

  • There’s been a lot of off shoring jobs to India lately. Could it be that mentally, they bring more game? Considering the Brahmi (Bacopa) herb has been used for millennia by the peoples of India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka to improve cognitive functioning and instil calm in the mind, methinks the answer is a big fat affirmatory.

  • Gotu kola is another herb used in ancient Chinese herbal remedies and Indian Ayurvedic medicine to ensmarten. Works swell on its own, but even better in a ginkgo biloba, ginseng formula. I’ll sometimes consume gotu kola (not to be confused with the naturally caffeinated kola nut) as a mild-tasting, non-caffeinated herbal tea. Zen ensues.

If you’re not sure whether your natural mind doping strategy is working, play a game of pinball before dosing and then 30 minutes after dosing. If it’s working, your senses and reflexes will be sharper, and your score will prove it.

No, I haven’t tried Piracatem, but I’m interested in trying the stuff. Heard good things.
